You play the Kalimba with both hands using the fingernails or fingertips of the thumb and the pointer finger. We've selected this thumb piano to sell in our shop, as we've been enjoying it in our home for several years, and it has a particularly lovely sound. Durable for play with little ones, but equally enjoyed by all ages it seems. One of the things we appreciate about the thumb piano is that whoever picks it up seems to pluck out tune, unique as each of us.
Solid wood. Meets European and North American toy safety standards and regulations.
6.8 cm long. 8 tones.
Recommended by the manufacturer for 5 years and up.
Made in Asia by Goki. We feel good about carrying certain products that we've trialled and tested over the years at our shop, and there is a lot to especially feel good about from the Goki line.
Goki's parent company is Gollnest & Kiesel. "Whoever takes something from nature must also give something back to it," belives Fritz-Rüdiger Kiesel. Every year, Gollnest & Kiesel donates a new forest to Schleswig-Holstein, Germany's least wooded state. A tree is planted for every newborn child in Germany. Over 400,000 new trees have been planted in recent years. As well, from Gollnest & Kiesel's Peggy Diggledey brand, 100% of the profits from the entire product range go towards coastal, marine, and reforestation projects.
Children who have to work for a living and also for that of their parents are the focus of an initiative by Gollnest & Kiesel. They are freed from child labour and given schools. For these children, education can mean escaping the cycle of child labour followed by a life in poverty. Ten schools have already been established in Bupoto, Uganda in cooperation with the children's relief organization, "Children in Africa".
