The knitting helpers goes by many names: knitting nancy, corker, knitting tower....

It is a great present ideal for 6-years-old and up (some adults also use knitting helpers for projects). We searched far and wide, and these are the nicest basic ones we've found. These very smooth wooden knitting helpers include a wooden 'needle' to poke the yarn through if need be. Available in 4, 6 and 8 metal pin sizes, which would in turn result in knitting with 4, 6, or 8 stitches, with varying width.
