The Classic Grimm's Tale of Jorinda and Joringel

by Bernadette Watts and Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm

Jorinda and Joringel are happily walking through the forest, but they stray too close to a witch's castle, and fall under her spells.

Jorinda is transformed into a nightingale and imprisoned in the castle in a golden bird cage. Joringel is powerless to rescue his true love, until one night he dreams of a magical flower that can overpower the witch's enchantments. Can he find the flower and free Jorinda?

Love and bravery triumph over evil in this classic Brothers Grimm tale. The beautiful forest and forbidding castle are compellingly illustrated by Bernadette Watts, perfectly capturing the magic and charm of the tale.

Recommended for 4 to 7 years.

Hardcover, 32 pages with full colour illustrations. 294 x 219 mm.

Floris Books, 2017.

Reviews

'This is a beautiful book. I really enjoy Bernadette Watts' illustrations: they are detailed but soft, and the colours express such emotion. [...] A gorgeous book of 'happy ever after'.
-- Juno

'Berandette Watts has once again brough the story to life with her magical illustrations. The story is written in a simple beautiful way, showing how love triumphs over evil.'
-- Kindling

'The colorful textured illustrations are a beautiful complement to the classic tale... Readers who enjoy fairy tales will enjoy this lesser known story.'
