Age recommendations for puzzles can be tricky, as it can vary depending on the child. We've seen kids as young as 3.5 into this puzzle, but generally, we recommend it for at least 4 or 5 and up. It can be a nice puzzle to do together with a child, providing a very mild assist, for example, with laying out the puzzle pieces ahead of time.
Suggestions for an adult working with a child: Look at the puzzle together ahead of time. Point out little things together, like how the flowers in the grass look different than the flowers in the tree. Begin each puzzle with flipping the pieces right side-up on the table or floor where you're working. Demonstrate how this is done simply by doing. You can leave space for the child to help, but it's not necessary for them to do so yet. In time, they'll learn from watching you. To start, we can do work joyfully, and they can observe us and absorb this attitude towards work. A mild assist would be to make sure that the pieces are oriented the right way, and somewhat grouped around the board, depending on where they will go. All the grass pieces can go in one spot, and all the tree leaves pieces in another, or you can group pieces by location on the board, in clusters of pieces that go together. When we see that they are struggling, we can ask them if they'd like to work together, and then some suggestions, like for example, "here is the big rabbits' head. Shall we try and find the big rabbit's body?" You just want to provide a little friendly encouragement, but without a great deal of pressure on them. It's an invitation to continue at the challenging parts, but not an expectation that raises the pressure too greatly. If there seems like the frustration level is more than optimal, then they might be too young for it still, and if the child would like, it can be put away for another day, for when they're a little older or would like to try again. Pointing out any successes they've had thus far with it before putting it away could also be helpful.
